How did this area of study come about?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nDr. Robinson Morey:<\/span><\/b> It all started with my work in India, where I directly supported survivors of abuse in spiritual environments. I realized that the trauma these individuals endure is profound and often overlooked\u2014especially when the perpetrators are figures of power like guru or spiritual leaders. This realization led me to expand my research to other countries, including Mexico and Spain, through my postgraduate studies, and later to the United States. Additionally, I conducted remote research in South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and several nations in the Middle East and Asia.
